settled with with several cc co. about 2 years ago they are showing 0 balance still reporting R09 How to fix

Is it best to ask lenders to change negative report to positive or try and dispute thru the credit reporting agency? Or is there a better solution. I have plenty of good credit on report but those R9s are really affecting my score.
